Katzenjammers

Some bands have made changes with arrangers for the 2016 year, what are your thoughts on Katzenjammers changing arrangers, I thought Leon did a good job with the band this year. I am not sure on why the change.

  • I did not single out the band, would it have made sense for me to bring up Despers and starlift change when it was discussed already. I am not putting down the organization at all because we don't know what was the cause for the change, change asking a question on my part something I dont see to often most times a band will stay with a person for 2 or more years and change. Now as for as being away from the kitchen to click with the band he is not the only arranger thats not with the band year round, they are others and most countries like wise also.

    • London, you are talking about PAN people in the Mecca, folks can be very territorial and sensitive when it comes to talking about their bands, its management and individuals within their organizations. Glenroy just recently explained to the PRO of Pan Trinbago what this Pan Forum was about and we all assumed he the PRO would have known how this PAN Forum operates or how people interact on social media. Good topic exploring expectations for Panorama 2016.

The world we live in belongs to those who are on the inside looking out, and those who are on the outside looking in, we all can LEARN from each other. Keep challenging our thought process.

      • Thank you, because my intention wasn't wasn't to put any one down on their choice. But more of a trend I have seen going on with pan and arrangers I personally feel that some bands dont give some of the new younger guys enough time to adjust with a band we expect most of them to be like the great ones.

        • London Gabriel. how long would you say is "enough time" 3years, 4 years, what's your opinion about Bird Song?

          • I think he had enough dont get me wrong he is doing excellent music but its not working for the band panorama wise, But then thats the difference with that band it seems they are loyal to him and letting him try his style of music and in other words saying Judges you are not depicting what a panorama song is and isnt.

  • I forgot a line from Denise "we must not interfere with an organization's business decision." I am looking forward for the next topic.

We can't have it both ways. Pan is growing up. It is now part of the global entertainment industry. If a band sacks their drummer, changes their arranger, hires a new tuner - it news and fan talk. This is not interfering with an organizations business decision. Robert Greenidge moving to Starlift is pan news. Zanda moving to Desperadoes is pan news. People should talk about it if they want to. The bands will make their decisions regardless, for their own reasons.

      • This is going to open up the game to more arrangers.

  • Mr. Claude,it is simple. One must know the reasons for the band's decision and hear the arranger's side before commenting blindly, but as Trinis we will say all kinda thing first, then after hearing the facts say Oh ho ah didn't know this or that. BIG HARD BACK MEN could discuss whatever they want on the forum, but would make more meaningful contributions by doing some research before comments. For me it seems that a decision has been made regardless of who say what. There are bands with members that are not supportive of selected arrangers by those in charge. Some prefer this person or that person and it results with a lack of support by those against, with some even witholding their services or going to perform with another band that has an arranger they approve of.

  • Rudolph Charles Started the Revolution of Having Outside Arrangers to Replace House Arrangers. His Vision was to Have musicians do Music and not Someone who just know Chords. That opened the Flood gate for other Bands to Follow. Most of the Top Arrangers at one time or the other were Arranging for Multiple Bands until Pantrinbago put a Stop to it, which I find is Very unfair to the Arrangers. A lot of Bands Has Flourished because of going for an outside arranger. Boogsie ruled the Roost, at one time He arranged for about Five or More Bands in One Season.  So Katzenjammer going for a Different Arranger in Nothing New for Steelbands. Everyone wants a Piece of the Pie, so Steelbands who are not Satisfied with their Present Arranger will always Change. ''Sometimes it Works Sometimes it Dont. Case in Point Skiffle Bunch.
