Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Legendary San Fernando panman Lennox Bobby Mohammed, dubbed as one of the unsung heroes of the southern city, has received a Republic Day award from the non-governmental group, Citizens for a Better T&T. The function took place at the CBTT’s quarters at Lazarri Street, San Fernando, on Monday. During the brief ceremony in his honour, Mohammed said thousands of citizens were deserving of an award for their tireless and unselfish contribution to their country but received none for one reason or the other.
....The former pan arranger also said he would like to dedicate his Republic Day Award to his late father Zainool Mohammed who was a school principal, his late mother Enid, brothers Selwyn and Lester who both played for the Guinness Cavaliers, as well as his sister Lynette and his grandparents, all of whom supported his love for the steelpan. Mohammed pointed out that he was very proud to be part of the rise of the steelpan “which is not only our national instrument but is today recognised all over the world.”

Congrats Bobby !!! + for keeping South on the map. I am from Cocoyea Vill. so I can just walk past the round- a- bout, past the Police Station + housing scheme down Lazzari St. The 60's are da best man !!!!
Congrats Bobby, you will go down in Pan history as one of the greatest innovators and arrangers. If I'm not mistaken I think that it was you who started the trend of ending your arrangements with a classical theme , now it's the norm. Again, congrats, it's been long overdue.
Congratulations Bobby.
Congratulations
All ya know South does do it hard, so Bobby did it hard and he did it well and he is well deserving of this award.
Another man no one knows about but at 83 he is still tuning pan in Pleasantville, If any body heard of Webb please reply, he use to tune for Free French, Gundolers, French Metronomes and Panasonic. ( All spelling might not be correct)
Congratulations on your Award. I am sorry that when you wanted to come to Australia I could not help. Last year is the first time we had a steel band festival with seven bands. We now have three pan tuners to make our drums for us. I hope one of your ex-members to get you over here for our next festival. Our organization now know as PANZ just started about a month ago. Again CONGRATULATIONS from Courtney "Tripoli Scratcherman" Leiba
Greetings: This is what I have always said. People like Bobo and Alan Maestro Gervais should not have to go through trying times. Maestro died Homeless. We must sing their praises but assist them when we can. Here again is another attempt to fast track the Retirement Fund. Guidance Dr. Lance Seunarine
