One steel orchestra each from Tobago and South Trinidad respectively, has made it into the National Large Band Finals at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, scheduled for Saturday 21st February 2009. RBTT Redemption Sound Setters (440) and Petrotrin Siparia Deltones (434), join their six (6) North/East counterparts in battle for pan supremacy. Coming in with the highest score was Phase II Pan Groove and their “Magic Drum” with 452 points. They were followed by Sagicor Exodus with 450 points. CLICO Sforzata maintained its lead in the Medium Band category copping 460 points, with Tobago’s NLCB Buccooneers three points behind at 457, and Courts Sound Specialists of Laventille at 447 commanding third place. Of the eight finalists on the Wednesday night finals, three are from the sister isle of Tobago: NLCB Buccooneers, Carib Dixieland and Katzenjammers. Draw for playing positions for the Small & Medium Bands, and Large & Single Pan Bands will take place on Thursday 12th and Tuesday 17th February, respectively - at NCC TV with Allyson Hennessy.   • The biggest joke is Starlift tieing with Pamberi...absolutely hilarious and quite impossible...I heard both bands and I'm in this thing too long to accept that one...Starlift was by far the weakest band of that category and the cellar position was reserved for them from the count...
    • Merrytones I agree with you, Pamberi and Starlift were not tied. Starlift was horrible. I am not sure what the judges were hearing. It would be nice if all the bands published their score sheets. It would go a long way in bringing transparency to the competition.
  • So can we see the breakdown of these points also? How did the judges come up with these scores?
  • I'm a bit of a slow coach, but can someone add the names of the arrangers for these bands...I know some but not all.
