Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Ten steel orchestras in the Medium band finals of Trinidad & Tobago’s annual National Panorama had their musical say on the night of Sunday February 16, 2020.  They faced judges Joanna Ragbir, Lennox London, Roger Sardinha, Stephanie Power, Corinne Soo Ping Chow and Joslynne Sealey, as well as a crowd of pan music and culture lovers, and the community overall.

And per the judges, when results were announced not too long after 12:35 a.m., it was the “turn” of Couva Joylanders which triumphed with their delivery of Stefon West’s arrangement of De Fosto’s “Is My Turn.”  It is the medium band’s first championship, and the top prize of TT$600,000.00 is also theirs.  Potential Symphony and Katzenjammers rounded out the top three; TT$550,000.00 and TT$500,000.00 are those bands’ respective prize purses.

  • I predicted this outcome. I said in another post the top two bands would fight it out and Joylanders were the dark horse for the win.

    • Actually, Martin, THAT SONG fits the PAN because of the flow of the melody. I have to go listen to them -- I kind of dismissed the band becaue of the hype with the other bands.

      • I said previously, they had a winning arrangement in the prelims. The only downside could be the judge's preference for the newer or more recognized songs.

  • And I made PATRICK ARNOLD the PRESIDENT OF PAN TRINBAGO with my LONG DISTANCE PROPAGANDA.

Character assessment, too revealing. Claude with this type of information on social media you can easily FAIL an FBI background check. That's if you're seeking a position of public TRUST.

    • Boy, Orville London was in BISHOPS when I was there!!! I live on Government House Road next to the SABGAS. My father ran that TEXACO TERMINAL next to the CINEMA -- I doh have to make up no stories!!!

I was 14 years old GAMBLING in KEN'S RACING POOL next to the CINEMA.

Maurice Chevalier who was a well know TOBAGO CRICKETER worked for my father. I worked in the SABGA STORE next to the MARKET up the hill in the SUMMER where I met CALYPSO ROSE for the very first time before anybody knew about CALYPSO ROSE. And by fate she ended up living next to me in SAN JUAN a few years later when we went back to TRINIDAD.

I lived life!!! I don't have to FIB!!!

Yuh want me to tell you about GUYANA and ANTIGUA!!!

Why do you think that I am the only man on THIS FORUM who is always posting something about GUYANA?

And I made PATRICK ARNOLD the PRESIDENT OF PAN TRINBAGO with my LONG DISTANCE PROPAGANDA.

Go check all the TRINIDAD PAPERS from the late 80's and early 90's before PATRICK ARNOLD came back to TRINIDAD!!!

I have made a couple references to LIVING in TOBAGO before -- it is there on the record!!!

      • Say wha?

      • They cyar tie yuh up, Claude. Dey tink yuh is a market crab or what?

        • Mercer: I PLANT CASSAVA in TOBAGO -- WATCH IT GROW and then COOK IT AND EAT IT. Best CASSAVA I ever eat in my life. Ah better stop here before ah start telling yuh about ALL DEM TOBAGO GHYUL!!!

  • Roger Sardinah and his brother Peter Sardinah and the big brother (I can't remember his name) and I was all going to school together at BISHOPS in TOBAGO in the early SIXTIES ... and then when ROGER was in CANADA and me and Patrick Arnold was in San Francisco we were sending OUR BOYS to perform in MEXICO and we sent a ticket for ROGER to come and play with the band.

So that SARDINAH boy is a DIE HARD TOBAGONIAN and he is a judge and HE LET DEM TOBAGO BANDS LOSE in this HISTORICAL PANORAMA -- that is MADNESS!!!

If I was a judge I woulda cheat and give TOBAGO EXTRA POINTS!!!

Allyuh making meh TURN UP SOME CARDS TONIGHT!!!
