Even when BOOGSIE faltered and finished fourth in the INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA, Duvonne failed to move up to the TOP TWO.
Once again finishing THIRD. A lesser name taking the SECOND SPOT.
As the most IN-DEMAND arranger, highly praised and respected as the new MESSIAH OF PAN by experts with voices coming from the high, the low, the near and the far -- Duvonne is yet to make the BIG SCORE.
PANORAMA 2016 is within his sights now. Should I buy a ticket to go see him fulfill the promise and dethrone ALL STARS?

Funny, after I read this, I was liming down south (Après Carnival-la) in Sando and we ran into the Professor and immediately his thoughts and observations in 1990 came right back to mind today. It applied then and to young arrangers like Duvonne (Big Man, even if he get small, lol) as it applies now.
Jit and Renegades was fantastic that night. But most people I spoke to then and now, for the most part, could not understand how this arrangement and performance failed to win the top spot. Moreover, as for the best arrangements/performances of note, no doubt "Woman On The Bass" by Leon "Smooth" and TASSO remains at the top of the list, but the Professor was bypassed in 1990, I am still SMH trying to comprehend why, oh why???
The politics of pan is steeped in the spirit of mystical controversy, ent...
Duvone Stewart time will come, he just have to be patient, just like Boogsie, it took Boogsie ah long time to make it inside there.
Count on the Big Man to come strong for Panorama 2016 in the Steelpan Mecca!!! The ICP if and when continued, will morph and evolve, hopefully taking suggestion-ideas into account, (if they listen)...
Every arranger today want a free ride to the top. To all young arrangers, please put some melody into your music and it will make a difference.
Thank you...we seem to have lost the art of carrying the melody throughout the tune..is all kinda gimmicks and fancy notes..these days it seems that the tune is only recognizable at the start and end...DS is famous for that...
I am so happy to hear Patrick and Sweet and Sour voice my "NO MELODY" complaint. I thought I was the only one with that complaint so I have been keeping it to myself.
There's still time Duvone. Judges still think that somehow.....they owe Boogsie, why? I don't know. I said on Sunday night after hearing Phase Two, that Scrunter should sue Boogsie for calling that tune "Woman on De Bass" because as sure as hell, it wasn't. Congratulations to "All Stars" that one, the judges got right!
Duvonne had it in his grasp if he had only played his panorama tune.Have you listened to the work
in that tune? But he went the tune with the Bram-bram style with little creative areas. So he beat himself.
