  • It appears as if you people do not understand government. In government there is always increases and cutbacks depending on who controls the purse strings Mr SALAH WILSON is a CANADIAN living in canada for the past 60+ years and he knows about cutbacks last year when the canadian government reduced the payment to CARIBANA I  did not hear mr wilson calling for a boycutt his lips was tight a a zip, why is he shouting so loud in trinidad. If the government cut back on funding it is PANTRINBAGO:s responsibility as was done by caribaana committee to find ways eg Sponsers donations etc to make up the difference governments do not employ panmen, but are responsible to fund the arts orginaziations that run these programs and when government changes so is the funding formula. so stop blaming the government and get pantrinbago to get of their buns and find ways or sponsers to rais the necessary funds to cover the difference That's what they are elected for  :AH GONE

    ah gobe

    • Mr Wilson I wish you would cut back on the rubbish that you just posted there.
      • yea... I'm not really sure what the "rubbish" is that he stated..

What's incorrect about those facts? I thought that the advent of those facts were the primary cause of all of this drama in the first place.

Sidebar...  Caribana is based in a country of a completely different economic set up and political arena. Not sure how comparing "American football" to "Japanese Judo" changes the figures at the end of the bank receipt.

      • @Sarah-Ann are the fact Mr. Wilson presented wrong?

@alwin jones You should be ashamed of yourself. You know better. Mr. Wilson sounds loud because of people like you.

    • Hold on there Mr. Jones...First of all I am not yet 60 years old so I cannot be living in Canada for 60 years. I have been back in Trinidad practically every year since I left. last year I spent 9 months in Trinidad and (God Willing) will be back there next week where I will be doing what I do which is community development in reviving Flamingoes.....but this is not about me neither Canad and the Caribana. We can talk about that another time where I will be happy to converse with you and you can get my views on that...But this is about an injustice to the people of Trinidad & Tobago the mostly youths and now mostly female pan players who wi;ll be affected by this cut back in funding for the Preliminaries...you are obviously missing the releveant facts about the math ...allow me to educate you about that.

the government  on the campaign trail says that they are going to give the winning band $2miilion TT ...you agree

The cabinet voted to cutback $200 ,from the $1000 .given for each pan player fpr the Preliminary round ...you agree

those are facts  I did not make that up.

      continue with the math

Last year the winning band got $1millionTT  ...you agree

Therefore they will only be getting an increase of $1million ...you agree.

now if you take $200, from 10,000 pan players the math reads ( $200 X 10,000) = $2million ...you agree

the government in reality is giving $1million and taking away $2million by substitution they will actually be taking away $1million at the end of this process...you agree.

I ask you now with all common sense in play is this fair ? is this right? ..These 10,000people contribute to the local economy during this six week period prior to panorama...the Transport industry benefits, the food & drink industry benefits ...the social status of the country is better because this heavy discipline of practice does not include criminal activities....please Mr Jones...no one is attacking the Government but these are the things they stated and did ...this is only a reaction to it and wherever I live I am still a Trinidadian and don't I have a say as every other Trinidadian.

Talk with me in person when I return ...come  check out the Panorama practice by Flamingoes in St. Augustine

      Regards

      Salah

  • It would seem as though The Minister of Works & Transport and The Minister of Multicullturalisim are both The Prime Minister  and the Ultimate Leaders of our Nation with NO BODY being able  to call them to board.
  • Every year we have the same issues of square pegs in round smooth holes when will it end I call on the executive of Pan Trinbago to come up with an independent plan for the pan man the panman has to know his worth,No Minister or Government has the right to classify pan and  the rewards to the panman but that is what you get when you allow persons to tell you how to run your house you have to dance to their tunes .A proper Executive run by able administrators should be put in place so that there will be funds that has been generated by the executive and  then collect  the subsidy that  is given to them by the Government but then the question arises What is the amount that this particular group this group that has raised Trinidad and Tobago"s name on the map what is the renumeration for their committment and this is something that has to be clarified so that issues such as this do not arise again every year in the future. the final analysis when  the Government  looks at the pan fraternity what do they  see do they  see Artiste or do they see beggars?
