One of our Trustees (Mr. Gerard Mendez) has tendered his resignation. This Trustee has not been functioning in this role and therefore, his resignation does not impact the functions of our organization.
Our functioning Central Executive members (INCLUSIVE OF OUR FUNCTIONING TREASURER) continue the work of the organization.
The Trinidad Express Newspapers has posted a story by Mendozie which is MISLEADING.

  • ARTlCLE 9 - DUTIES OF OFFICERS

    A. CENTRAL EXECUTIVE OFFICERS

    1. THE PRESIDENT

    8. Shall have the power to change the portfolio of any Officer of the Association after consultation

with the Central Executive Committee where such Officer has occupied office for a minimum of

    one (1) year.

    1. Does this mean that the president has the power to reverse the results of the election at the last convention?
    2. Does this mean that the president may have reassigned Mendez to another position, but Mendez has resigned from his substantive elected position of treasurer?
    3. Does this mean that constitutionally Mendez may have resigned from his substantive elected position of treasurer, but continues to be a trustee?
    4. Is this what Beverley Ramsey Moore means when she publishes to the nation that Mendez has not resigned?

Because ARTICLE 10 of the constitution ELECTIONS states:

    2. All Officers of the Association shall be elected triennially and shall hold office for a term of three

    (3) years from the date of their election to office.

    Calling for a constitutional lawyer.

As I have stated before on this forum, I am not a lawyer, or even a bad bush lawyer, but something does not seem to add up here, just as how regional coordinators and liaison officers are selectively requesting bands to sign a petition agreeing with the indefinite postponement of the convention does not compute.

    • What is misleading is that 70% of Trinidad bands have not signed any petition in agreement of the postponement of the convention.
    • What is misleading is that eastern regional officials went around telling a few bands in their remit who they suspect may still be loyal to the incumbent, that the curfew was the main reason for postponing the convention, as Beverley Ramsey Moore fears that all delegates may not return home in a timely manner.
    • What is misleading is that eastern regional officials refused to inform or visit 80% of the bands in the eastern region to get support for the illegal postponement of the convention.

The Convention continues to be the supreme legislative and judicial authority of the Association and shall be convened once in every three calendar years during the period September 1 to October 31 to determine general policy of the Association and to elect members to the Central Executive Committee.

Denying the membership the opportunity to exercise their franchise is what is misleading Mrs Ramsey Moore.
