Panmen reject $2m Panorama first prize
Trinidad & Tobago - Pan Trinbago's membership has moved a resolution blanking Government's $2 million first prize for this year's Panorama winners in the large band category.
The members are also calling on the Government to reinstate the $1,000 stipend to players for the preliminaries and want an apology from Minister of the Arts and Multiculturalism Winston "Gypsy" Peters for his disrespectful remarks to panmen.

I've said this before keep the prize at 1million and give the panmen a $200 raise $1,200 each everybody will feel better and it will reflect in their performances right now everybody is feeling hurt and disrespected not a good way to go into a competition
Pan is one of our greatest resources give them respect and show appreciation.
With the revenue that the Goverment gets out of Carnival and Panorama as a whole.. They can afford to raise the first prize for the large bands beyond 2 Million dollars, and also re-enstate the $1,000.00 stipend for the pan players. The cost to bring out a large steelband for Panorama is astronomical. Its time that the panmen are recognised for their contributions to our Carnival.
Panorama by its self brings in Millions of dollars to the Goverment coffers and should be justly rewarded.
P.S. Art and Cultural Minister Mr. Winston 'Gypsy' Peters should also apologise for his defamation of the Steel band Panorama and ther contribution to our Culture. He is very foolish and arrogant and wont apologise.
