I'm listening to the semis on 91.1 FM , since though I've managed to get the CTV TV stream , I find the sound to be unsatisfactory.

!) I have no problem with old tunes , since they expand the available music that the bands can choose from.
However , I believe that there are many great old pan friendly calypsos that were ignored by steelbands of the past , and if I were an arranger deciding to use an old tune , I would avoid the winning tunes of the past , since you may also be competing against the ghosts of great steelbands and arrangers of the past.
2)According to the interviews I've heard so far , most of the experienced arrangers take the advice of the judges in context , but believe that they know best what they're trying to accomplish musically , and so for the most part , do their own thing.
I was really happy to hear that , since I have a feeling that veteran arrangers don't think much of the judges abilities to give them advice.
Kudos to them , and much respect!
And btw , about those panorama tunes , I think that Pan Trinbago should purchase blocks of radio air time throughout the season , and bombard the public with pan tunes.
That way hopefully by panorama , those tunes will be familiar to the public.

Like you, I've been monitoring the broadcast on the 91.1FM and CTV TV stream, with the TV stream I found a lot of static in the audio, I clicked the audio icon and raised the volume, maybe we may see a change when the Large bands come on.
Remember when the head of CNMG made his big announcement about "Effective Immediately" viewers and listeners can expect enhanced coverage, improved efficiencies etc... good sales pitch.
