My dad also had that steelband album in his vinyl collection.  Good music, should be re-released as CD.

The ROYALS having a thing for PAN MUSIC is not some new phenomena.  They have been fascinated with the STELLBAND ARTFORM from the very begining.  In 1946 a steelband from ANTIGUA was invited to the FESTIVAL OF BRITAIN as the only musical invitee from the entire BRITISH COMMONWEALTH.  This, at a time when Great Britain owned almost 1/3 of the known world.  I think this is one of greatest compliments PAN in itself has ever had.

bede Despers is the greatest steelband period, they have been around 6 decades and with the exception of the 50's during their inception, they have won contests across the board in every decade of their existencefrom panorama, festival, bomb etc. even after long periods of lull they have toured the planet performed in he most prestigious places and with the most prestigous orchestras on the planet, the only band to win panorama with more than two  arrangers

Even tho' Desperadoes Steel Band panorama tunes recently have not been up to par, they are still one of the greatest bands ever.(i am not a despers fan)
