Steel Band Festival to feature Ray Holman
Noted artist to perform Friday at Baby Grand, Saturday at UD
 

Delaware, USA - The University of Delaware Department of Music and Institute for Global Studies has announced that legendary steel pan artist Ray Holman will perform alongside Delaware Steel, UD’s steel pan ensemble, at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 30, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.

Holman’s performance is being held in conjunction with UD’s third annual Steel Band Festival, which is taking place on the green between the Amy E. du Pont Music Building and the Roselle Center for the Arts from noon to 6p.m. Saturday, April 30.

  • This sounds like a good event, I hope it's being video taped because I don't think any arranger has done more work, with up and coming steel bands in America than Ray. He's really done a lot to promote Pan in this country by participating in workshops, playing in concerts, training players and composing and scoring music for their various events.

     

    Their Pans look good, can someone tell me who made them? Or maybe I will take the family and go to this event and find out myself. It's just a matter of time before steel bands like this one, will be featured in a TV commercial or on a major news network and after that, everyone will want to have a pan for themselves or for their children...wait and see.
