Liam Teague played for Solo Harmonies in a festival and Boogsie Sharp played for Skiffle also in a Music Festival that they won and I heard no complaines from WST Members about loyality to their band, So tell me what is the difference between Music festival which is a competition and  Panorama which is also a competition. Enquiring minds would like to know.

  • To be fair to Mr. Sharpe he was Skiffle Bunch's long standing arranger when they were a pan round the neck band, so he has a long history with them.

Did Phase II even compete in 2000 festival?

  • A crack-shot that don't know the music is just ah crack-shot that don't know the music.

  • Chalk and Cheese

That is all I would say.

  • i like the topic. Good one mr. Richards.

  • Liam wasn't involved with any other band in Trinidad at that time was he? When he worked with Harmonites he flew into the country to perform as far I remember...Boogsie arranged for Skiffle that year...didn't he...I can't remember if Phase II competed that year. What's your point?

    • You are correct he did the music for them that year

    • All I am saying is what a few member refer to as loyalty to one band, for example in 1980 Panorama Boogsie arranged Wanted Dead Or Alive for Jewel 22 and a few members of his band played with them and in the Final Jewell 22 finished ahead of Boogsie's band and I did not hear and complaines from anybody at that time about loyalty to one band. So I/we would like to be educated on why players  play for several bands for Panorama nowadays.  Is it just for the Government payment of $1000.00  that turned into $500.00 and so far $000.00 in 2017.

      • No...you didn't hear any complaints, because that is when the bachannal really began to get wild...And you would not have heard any compliaint because Boogsie arranged for a band run the then President of Pan Trinbago...Yuh expect Arnim to say "Fellas ah know it wrong, but ah doin' it still, because I is de boss?" Arnim Smith clearly didn't business, because he was a noted jefe in his days.

Yes it's all about the $1,000.00...Nothing else. I suppose some of these players may refer to themselves as professionals but where teamwork is involved one simply cannot represent two entities at the same time. It is unethical, it is counter-productive, it is dangerous to the welfare of the steelband movement. We can make any amount of excuses why it should continue but it has to stop, or else steelbands will pay the ultimate price...the end of Panorama as we know it...
