Pan Pioneer and Leader of the famed North Stars Steel Orchestra, Mr. Anthony Williams celebrated his 81st Birthday by honouring some of the icons in the Pan World. This auspicious event took place at the St. James Amphitheatre in Trinidad, on Sunday June 24th, 2012. The programme commenced around 6:30pm and ended around 11pm.

I would not mention the men he honoured, because a man who choose to spotlight "his peers" instead of being the one who should be honoured, shows the kind of character that is Mr. Anthony Williams.

The Secretary of Pan Trinbago made a commitment that they would convince "The Powers That Be" that Mr. Anthony Williams should be honoured with a Doctorate.

I was looking forward to seeing and meeting the old members of the 1960's North Stars, but that did not happen.

We were entertained with the singing voice of  Mr. Anthony Williams, pan solos from Mr. Ray Holman and Earl Brooks; single pans from Scrunters and Tripolians; and conventional from Scherzando and Desperadoes Steel Orchestras.

I am paraphaseing Mr. Kenneth Clarke's statement recently.           Mr. Williams and the rest of the Pan Elders who have made great contributions in the development of our National Instrument, should be "pilgrimed" to the Schools so the pupils can learn who these ambassadors are.

Mr. Anthony Williams and Ms. Judy Arthur would like to thank NCC, EXODUS, Mr. Donawa, Mr. Junior Howell and all who helped sponsor his birthday party. Judy gave me many more names to mention, so sorry Judy that I did not follow all your instrutions.

Let's hope that soon there would be a Dr. Anthony Williams.
