  • They need a professional agent for your stage side. After Carnival you really hear pan. We have pan year round in Boston, both in the city and suburban beaches  Bands have to stop depending on the government. Hire an agent to represent your band.

    • Don't waste your TIME giving SUCH GOOD ADVICE to BACKWARD BEVERLEY and the TRIPLE BACKWARD PAN COMMUNITY in TRINIDAD -- my dear EILEEN!!!

  • Claude. I have 2 take exception 2 what u say. This is Trinidad & Tobago. Nobody from Pan Trinbago or any other Pan entity should have 2 go 2 d powers that b to tell them PAN must represent this country at any kind of event. Is like d clerk in d ministry of sport asking if Richard Thompson is an ELITE athlete.

    • Sherman: You and I good!!! Personally, I like you and your PAN HISTORY!!!

But we see this DISCUSSION DIFFERENTLY!!!

In my view: PAN DOES NOT BELONG ON THAT STAGE!!!

And for years, I have been the BIGGEST CRITIC of DOCTOR DOLLY on THIS FORUM.

But I have to tell you that she and I share the SAME PERSPECTIVE on where PAN do and don't belong!!!

Maybe it is just because she and I just happen to have both grown up in NEWALLOVILLE.

But DOCTOR DOLLY is my NEW HERO!!!

Something like HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY!!!

      • O K Claude. There have always been Caribbean art showcases since I know myself. That's where I learned about Louise Bennett,Beryl Mc Burnie, John "Buddy" Williams and a host of other top caribbean performing icons. U really don't think that PAN belongs on that stage? Pan is all over d world, but it was given to the caribbean first. It was birthed in dis country and u think that there should be an international cultural event in dis country without PAN. To me that should b a given. I am sure if calypso was left out u would sing a different tune.

  • Ah backing this retort whole-heartedly

  • This is quite unfortunate, and a gross arts, cultural, national, ethnic and educational misstep. But then again, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

What does Pan Trinbago's "Public Affairs Officer" -- regionally-acclaimed CARIFESTA XIV-host-country pannist has to say?

  • Someone must be held accountable for this fiasco. Pan should play a MAJOR role representing Trinidad and Tobago in Carifesta wherever it is held, certainly when it is held in Trinidad and Tobago. And that representation must be at the highest level, showcasing our top steelbands, panists, arrangers and tuners.

The Minister of Culture should resign for not articulating for the best exposition of local culture at every possible level of Carifesta. Pan Trinbago should also be held accountable.

Carifesta has been in the planning stages since 2018, it not before then.

Who is going to take a stand for pan? What is the mandate for World Steelpan Day? Is this going to be just another slogan like "the World Governing Body for the Steelpan" and "the National Instrument"?

  • But why PAN PEOPLE making such a BIG DEAL over some perceived slight.

Just now is TIME TO PRACTICE for PANORAMA and allyuh will have ALL THE ATTENTION in the WORLD.

Maybe (Just Maybe) allyuh have the WRONG PERSON representing THE PAN WORLD IN TRINIDAD. Maybe if PAN TRINBAGO had a FUNCTIONAL PRO performances might have been BOOKED!!! Maybe if the PRESIDENT OF PAN TRINBAGO did not have ALL HER PAN EGGS in the TOBAGO PANORAMA BASKET she might have lifted her CHIN and moved THE POWERS THAT BE to INCLUDE PAN.

In two months time PANORAMA START AGAIN -- what allyuh worried about!!!

    • And, coincidentally, one of the members of Pan Trinbago executive body is also a member of Trinidad All Stars .... what do they have to say!!
