Panist and band leader Leeandro Panist Noray states

I think this year had the most bands on the road for carnival Monday and that great BUT I'M PISSED about the fact that The music trucks keep blasting there music even when they pass a steelband judging.... That is sh!t and to make matters worse they put the mass judging point a few meters from the pan so when they on stage the pan can't play because the amplified trucks are much louder.
They push the pan judging out of the main part of scarborough as if to get pan out of the way, all bands are now operating from dock site to breeze hall on the old road. The NATIONAL INSTRUMENT???? ya sure about that ???

Do you think it is time to make it a criminal offense for trucks to blast their music around pan-sides in Trinidad and Tobago?

  • Hello Leeandro,

Sorry to hear about your "Pan Dilemma" and same to the other bands. Are you all planning to meet with the Carnival Committee of Tobago to avoid a reoccur in 2015?.

As a fellow pan-lover, I feel your pain, but about criminal offence, no, only because we have more life threatening situations (lol)

  • As a matter of fact the bands have too many trucks, last year I saw so many trucks it was not funny, a truck to pee, a truck to eat, truck with music, maxi taxi in case your tired.. and the music so loud as if they are competing with each other to see who is the loudest. The Dj's should have some kind of guidelines so that we all can enjoy the wonderful music, instead you have to cover your ears.   Just saying!

    • I would like to find out how we are going to pencil-in the DJ in our histroy books.

  • I agree, it happens everywhere now ah days not just in T&T...no respect...Anybody can play recorded music...The associations need to put a stop to it and include fines and taking points off from these groups...

  • I think its a criminal offense to have pan on trucks. Allyuh look for dat.

    • Patrick, I really thought u was originally from St James? Now yuh have mih believing yuh from Maraval. yuh getting on like yuh behind time. You is chive? So pan on trucks could be disrespected? To think like u, Pan on rack should also be a criminal offense. Is only when it hanging from yuh neck is d national Instrument? D Rasta use to say back in d day "iditate to utter". Because ah man on d ground is ok to spit on him. I will want to address the disrespect for the National Instrument by the DJ trucks on the roads during the National Festival at another time. I was just moved by your reply to Bro. Noray's concern.
