Members you have all heard this saying  before ,one hit wonders ,Musical Groups  that have  made it to the top with one big hit and never came close to making another one . In Panorama we have  Steel Orchestras with one victory(HATTERS,NUTONES) and others that came ever so close that the public give  them victory(FONCLAIRE, ETC ETC). My question is will we ever witness another one hit wonder in Panorama or since the emergence of the big five ALL STARS , DESPERADOES, EXODUS.RENEGADES AND  PHASE 11 makes it very hard for another Band to come and mash up the place with another one hit wonder. CECIL,BEDOE,DARYL, IAN, BUGS, BERTEL, CLAUDE,MERRYTONES, WEB and others too numerous to mention. I  welcome your feedback.

  • The only other Band that I see will get that "Wonder Hit" is "Tropical Angel Harps", Morris puts out some very good Music and they are usually right there but just need that extra push over that Hump,

  • How about when Silver Stars came and stole the show in 2009? That doesn't count?

    • Noah my  understanding of the term one hit wonder is a person act  or group known mainly for only a single success. The term is most often used to describe music performers with only one hit single or having one signature song that overshadows their other work.  In the case of Silver Stars, they stole the show in 2009 and repeated in 2010 so in my own opinion they are not a one hit wonder because of more than one Panorama victories. Noah please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

      • That was more directed to the idea that the "big five" keep any other bands from breaking thru... but you are right they are not a one hit wonder... and Khari no apology needed as we were saying the same thing, I just didn't see your post when I added my two cents.

I think you see more "one hit wonders" in medium; in the years 2010-2014 you have had five different bands win that category with only Katzenjammers repeating.

        • Noah thanks for your reply and knowledge of the Pan world , appreciate you.

    • Yes Noah you are so correct my apologies

  • Good question Earl, I would say that it's not impossible but highly unlikely. Panorama is really between five bands, an outside band will have to perform excellent in the semis, create a buzz so to speak so that final night everybody [including the judges] will be anxious to hear them. Another thing is it is next to impossible for a not popular arranger to get respect, regardless of how good their work is.

    • I thing Edwin and Silver Stars did it
