Will the current state of the ECONOMY in TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO cause MAS PLAYERS to RETURN to playing MAS with the STEEL BANDS / ORCHESTRAS on the road for CARNIVAL 2016 because of the PRICES of MAS COSTUMES ETC ETC ETC.

Bede, its an all inclusive party. The money they pay is really for the Drinks, Eats, Toilets and Buses(Air Condition) Security to wine on who dey want. and BIG Truck Music. The costumes cost next to nothing.

Bertel, I guess you didn't see where I said CREATE A CARNIVAL FOR THE STEELBAND. we have two carnival days, I don't see why they can't have a day for the steelband, as I said before YOUNG PEOPLE WILL ADAPT.

I cannot see it costing a whole lot of money to play Mas, their Costume is usually consist of a Bra or a top, A shorts or a Thong, a sneakers or a Alpagat,
earl richards, I glad that it's you that start this topic, it is the reason I'm in the forum, I am not willing to just watch the STEELBAND get bullied out of carnival and I know there are a lot more like me who feel the same way. Every so often we have to rattle the powers that be and ask them what's being done with the steelband.?.
Cecil, my point is that young people on the whole are NOT attracted to steelband! They say it is too slow!
If All Stars have young people playing music, how many that would be in comparison to the majority?? When you go to Steelband events is the SAME people, young and ole, you notice at these events everytime, All Stars or no All Stars, Despers or no Despers.
How do you expect pan to come back on the road when the MAJORITY of our young prefer to play in Beads and Feathers on both carnival days, eh??
Pan will come back on the road when the appropriate environment is created for them, this will only come when the powers that be understand the cultural value it has.
As for the Young People, I keep tell you all they WILL adapt to what ever, if they don't get what they want they'll just fall-in whatever it has.
Times change, and yuh have to respect dat!!!
What you are saying is time has changed and the young people has no desire for steelband on the road? so what is the use of the pan in schools program, why is there a school panorama, is this how you prepare them to wine and jam for carnival? You all push the young people away from the steelband by not promoting the steelband, if you do nothing you end up with nothing
No one in the Mecca should glory over the absence of the steelband from carnival.
STEELBAND WHO SAY IT CANNOT BE DONE, WATCH ALL STARS DOING IT, times have change yes, how come they are still doing it? Therein lies your answer.
