It is quite troubling that the president and the secretary of Pan Trinbago, with the support of the rest of the executive, are going around trying to fool the nation regarding Pan Trinbago’s affairs. Particularly their expression of the view that the auditors’ report was satisfactory and accepted by its membership. What in fact occurred was that the membership expressed its belief that it was unfair to distribute audited financial statements at the meeting and then expect meaningful discussions. Because of the complexity of the document and the fact that questions were asked of the treasurer which he was unable to answer, the membership decided that another meeting would be called to properly discuss the auditor’s report, allowing time for the members to study the document. They also allowed the president to use the document as passed so that it could be given to NCC as its deadline for submission was near, according to him. This was agreed upon with the assurance of the president regarding the proposed meeting. There has been no such meeting to date.
One of the most talked about figures was the one regarding rentals as it was featured in Mark Bassant’s report on the TV 6 seven o’clock news. Under rentals, 2015 rentals were recorded as $871,699.00 and in 2016 it jumped to $4,052,462.00. It has even been alleged that an executive member was romantically involved with one of the owners of the rental company.
Though this may or may not be true, if the leaders of Pan Trinibago do not give the membership the opportunity to critique the audit, they would have no choicVe but to believe that some persons are indiscriminately filling their pockets. We are pleading with the president of Pan Trinbago to stop trying to distort the truth.
