I visited Desperadoes pan yard while I was down there with my buddy Rod at least twice a week in my 12 wk. stay,
so I am sold on Despers now. I admired the intensity with which the arranger drilled the men, and the discipline, with which they respected his efforts to fine tune each segment of the tune in question (I'z a Trini) The end result on that faithless night does'nt matter to me. Full marks from me.
As people say, forget the judges. When we win, we don't complain, so when we don't win we have to accept it. I will always love despers because they don't play "formula" music and arrange around the current melody. Love them no matter what!!
Wow! this is a great effort by desperadoes-despite the make-up of the calypso itself. Lots of variation-which the ''other'' bands were lacking.Go Despers,,Always.
I personally congratulated Beverley in the "yard" and I thanked him for bringing back the rhythm and breakaway jam verses Desperadoes were so famous for.Beverley,I thank you again and maybe we'll get a little luckier next year. Please encourage the boys to keep up their fine standards. And bear in mind that although the judges placed us an unbelievable seventh,we were only 8 points behind the winners All Stars.
Good arrangement! Congrats to Bev, Andre and Quarless for an interesting piece of work. I am only too aware of the amount of effort that went into making this into what it turned out to be. I am only sorry that it was not played a tad slower so that the real essence of this arrangement could have been felt and its quality appreciated. But, as the saying goes, better luck next time!!!
