It is with heavy hearts that the Lydians mourn the passing of Trinidad and Tobago musical Icon, Winston Bailey, The Mighty Shadow. (1941 -2018) Born in Trinidad, Shadow spent his childhood years in Les Coteaux, Tobago. He won the Road March title in 1974 with "Bassman". He won the Calypso Crown in 2000 with "What's Wrong With Me" and "Scratch Meh Back," and in 2001, he was the second person to win both the International Soca Monarch and the Trinidad Road March competitions simultaneously with "Stranger". In 2003, he was awarded the Trinidad & Tobago Humming Bird Medal Silver (for Music) and in October 2018, the University of the West Indies bestowed on him an Honourary Doctorate posthumously. This performance on September 1st 2018 at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA) was Shadow's final performance before his passing, backed by the Lydian Singers and Adan Hagley Band. The event: 'Rhythm of Our People'- the First Citizens 25th Anniversary Concert series.
