  • Very Nice, Steve.

Don't know how I missed that 64 Music festival.

    It must have been special.

  • It is this version of True Love that West Side Symphony played in1964 when they were crowned Champs of the Pan Music Festival . I remember that semifinal night at Naparima Bowl in San Fernando when they left us in Awe after their performance . The Bowl had no curtains so the Players came on , set up the Band , went off Stage and returned when Introduced by the MC . When it was their turn to set up it was done by guys casually dressed and not uniformed so the audience started to murmur for all the previous Bands were uniformed . The MC then Introduced them and to the surprise of audience in walked a Bunch of smart looking uniformed guys . The applause was thunderous . Then came "True Love" and what a performance for when they so smoothly changed from the Latin to the Calypso and back to the Latin Tempo the crowd went off again  into thunderous applause and mind you this was the middle passages of the tune . At the end there was no doubt who was at the Helm for they gave us a performance of a life time . It was an honor to be there for it has left me with those memories that I can cherish forever. I have not heard their performance of this tune since then so I hope that some one would Post it on WST . I bought the CD Hollywood Cha Cha Cha  especially for this tune so that I can share this info with you folks . Indeed Edmundo Ros and West Side Symphony are two of our cultural heroes and Hearty Thank You to them for all the joys that they have given to us . Thanks .
