  • @ EDWARD TEDDY PINHEIRO

Thank you for the valuable information and history Mr. Pinheiro.

  • Edmundo was known as "the Arima kid". Even though he does no vocals here he did record many vocals including

Spoiler's Magistrate try yourself. When he was forming his band in England which played mostly Latin American music, I suppose he had to say he was a Venezuelan. Who ever heard of the leader of a Latin American dance band from Trinidad?[smile] He played mostly at the Paladiun which I think he owned at one time.He was a frequent visit here during carnival, sitting quite unobserved until a news photographer would pick him out.Winniefred may not have been sucessful in England as classical pianist but was very popular with her "raggity' piano stylings. To do her stint in Australia she came to Trinidad to select home grown musicians. During that time here she heard Ottmar on piano during the Bandemonium competition of 1960

  • On YouTube, Ron. Fortunately , several of his hits are posted.

    Thanks to the internet!

  • Where did you get this Glenroy? It’s a long time since I have heard Edmundo Ross.

  • There are quite a number of Trinidadian artistes who made names for themselves internationally in the last century, particularly in the post WWII period.

This would include people like Geoffrey and Boscoe Holder, Winnifred Atwell,  Edric Connor, Edmondo Ross, Horace James, Pearl Primus, Errol John, Jacqui Chan, Sir Lancelot and others.

Hopefully, as time goes by, these and other forgotten Caribbean artistes will be recognized for their contributions to the arts and to our culture..

  • there is also another lagacy he left. He hired west indian musicians of all islands (as long as they were good)including my mentor Shake Keane (possibly the greatest flugel horn player of all time). In his early days Ross never said he was Trinidadian He always claimed Venezuela as home.(that is excusable knowing the climate that existed in the upper class society world in which he played)
  • Mr Edmundo Ros  a true Trini I here it in his music R I P
  • thanks Glenroy.

Growing up, there were two ex pat trinis that I saw as having achieved high praise - Edmundo Ros who was in Venezuela and Winnifred Atwell in Australia.

    This music is timeless.
