Mac Beth the Great is the father of Ralph MacDonald. The writer of "Just the Two of Us" Jade Calypso 78 RPM 78 07 Here's a late 40's possibly early 50's calypso 78 by Mac Beth. I recorded the disc at 96KHz 24bit and used some noise reduction and EQ. The record is a little worn so the results have some distortion, but that bad.

  • I too grew up with Ralph, his brother Aldwin and his three sisters on 117th Street. (Aldwin was my god brother).

Those were the good old days in truth. When Mac Beth died, Fat's Greene a member of Mac's band, took over the

    band.

  • Ralphie and i both grew up in Harlem in the early 40's and 50's. We had a wonderful childhood in growing up in those times,... and when labor day rolled around all of the buzz was centered around the West Indian Day Parade, which started in Harlem originally, before it moved to Brooklyn, NY.. Mac Beth The Great, (Ralph's father), always had the Parade float come to our street so that every body could get a good look as to what to look for on the parade route. It was always a joyous occasion to see these events taking place until the parade was moved to Brooklyn, i believe in 1961. It was a joy to know Ralph, and i pray that his spirit will rest in peace!
