By 1965, the sound of the steel drum was evolving into the richer, more modern sound.Pan Am North Stars were at the top of their game as one of the top steelbands in Trinidad, with a rich, professional sound.From their 1965 album, "Souvenirs in Steel",here is their version of Frederic Chopin's Waltz in D flat major, Op. 64, No. 1, popularly known as the Minute Waltz.Note that the word "minute"as used means small; the waltz was not meant to be played in one minute. It should be between 1.5 and 2.5 minutes long,

I am dying to hear Maria by Pan Am North Stars. Could some one advise Glenroy Joseph to help. That Pan Am red coloured LP is absolutely priceless.

I am not a pan expert. I just speak what my ear hears. Pan AM north Stars is the best steel orchestra for me, even today with all the technological advances with pan. They play their intruments! They did not beat the pans! That's what I hear too much of in today's pan presentations.

THIS BRINGS BACK A LOT OF MEMORIES . DO STEELBANDS IN COMPITIONS STILL PLAY THE CLASSICS? IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE STEELBANDS PLAYING THE CLASSICS AGAIN.

Boy u sure you en raid my collection?? I had theis Pan Am North Stars LP from way back and cant find it now. You are right tho, Pan Am always had the best arrangements. Invaders is the love of my life but Tony Williams was always the best with the arrangements.
