  • Thanks Pan Times for the information. I recall in the 1960's our primary schools would pipe a half an hour radio programme about the history of the colonists to us pupils. Today we should pipe the same format to our youngsters with information of "Our Diverse Pioneers"

    BTW: Were their 2 ships that carried the name Santa Maria. A few years ago I heard that the Santa Maria sank some where off the place that is now known as Haiti. I did not pay attention to the year until now. The given year was 1492. Since we were taught that 3 ships landed at Iere in 1498, and that the name of one of those ships was called The Santa Maria, was the Santa Maria of 1498 a remake, or 1492 is an error.

    And , I'm old enough to remember the era when the captaincy of the West Indies cricket team was reserved for whites only.

    Frank Worrell was the first man of color to captain the team , as I remember.
