  In this clearer recording, it sounds like maybe the melody goes up to some high notes that don't speak as loudly as the harmony notes (or octave reinforcement) below them, so now I'm questioning the integrity of my transcription. I'm talking about in bars 3-6 of the first melodic section. Sure would be nice to get ahold of the original recording (Prez Prado?) from which they created their arrangement.

  @Gary Gibson, yes I heard the whistling too...hahahah. But I will have to give a closer listen to the direction of the answering phrases

  I was going to add the correction of TOM cat as well. I did a transcription of this a few years ago, but the recording I had was of a bit less quality. With headphones on, and intensely listening, I can hear one of the guys in the band whistling the melody as he plays, and it sounds like the line goes UP in the answering phrases (not down as I had originally transcribed it). Can anyone else hear what I'm talking about?

  I shoulod be doing a 1 on 1 interview with Mr Emmanuel Riley (Cobo Jack) and will post it with Invaders background music as soon as it is completed.  If you really wanto hear Cobo Jack solo listen to Woman and Money (4th trac on B side of 1962 carnival hits)  paddy corea

  Glenroy this is actually TOM Cat Mambo.  Not Top Cat.  Invaders did several cuban mambos in the 50's, Back Bay Shuffle, Puerto Rico Mambo, Tom  Cat Mambo, Mambo #5, along with some powerful semi classical pieces the best of which was Lieberstraum (Franz List)  With a Song in my heart, Softly as In a Morning Sunrise (Sigmund Rhomberg) and of course Come Back to Sorrento.  I have most of the originals  Invaders forever(paddy corea)

  Thanks! Man, where are you finding all of these classics you have been posting ? You see, my interest was in hearing some of this great Cobo Jack Soloing I've been reading so much about. If you have more, please post.

  Bede .I'm always trying to find and share those classic pieces that we heard back in the early days of pan, especially from the days of  the little box high up on the wall that was called "Redifusion"..

  It amazes me how much music the old time panists got out of those steel drums, considering the limited range ot the pans back then..
