Why not have a World Cup Panorama Competition where Pan Trinbago takes the top three bands from each Panorama (Trinidad, New York, England, etc.) and have them compete against each other for the world title! It can be setup in the same way as the world cup for other sports where the event is held in different countries, every four years or so and it should be able to accommodate crowds for each Panorama.

What a great idea! May not happen within the next few years but it can be done quite successfully. This would be a true panorama.
It's a great idea - but the funding and organisational issues would be enormous. The costs to ship a band (and their instruments) from the UK would probably be prohibitive for all except those with major sponsorship, and there isn't a lot of spare cash flowing around for anyone in the current climate.
That's a good point lady raygun, still I am sure there are ways to make it work.
However, in the meantime thePanCafe has plans on accomplishing this feat online via online radio...this way there are no costs involved, just our participation where votes are concerned.
i think thats a great idea but they should open it to the best steel bands in north america , Europe and the caribbean. That way we get a wider range of arranging stylez, bandz(players), and it also give some of the unknown arrangers like myself a chAnce to showcase their music...instead of hearing the same people over and over again(professor, pelham,smooth, etc)........no disrespect to these guys, i just think there are alot of talented arrangerz out there that should be heard.

I have to agree with you man, teams DO seek the best coach to assist them...BUT, the best coach from a particular "region". For example, one of the best coaches in Portugal not long ago was Jose Mourinho and Scolari, in England it might be Sir Alex Ferguson, in Italy it might be Carlo Ancelotti, in Spain it might've been Vicente del Bosque at one point, etc.
Then...., there is a competition called, UEFA Champions League where teams managed by all these managers compete to determine the best team out of those regions....this is what we hope to archive with the World Cup Panorama Competition.
