2018 Panorama Info Complete
Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - It is victory for the second year running for Newtown Playboys Steel Symphony, which successfully defended its title in the Single Pan Band category of the 2018 Trinidad and Tobago National Panorama.
Performing a David Rudder classic - ‘The Hammer’ - arranged by Carlon Harewood, it was a close competition, with the winners a single point ahead of the second-place band, Pan Jammers, which came in with 285 points. A tie for third between Marsicans and the T&T Fire Service single pan bands rounded out the top positions.
Fifty-three bands started the musical journey just a few days ago, with the first bands being judged in their pan yards on January 4. With no semi-final phase, the top twenty were chosen for the final competition earlier this evening, Sunday January 14. The venue was the Basketball Court, Princess Royal Park, Arima, in east Trinidad.
And so the first championship title has been conferred, and the first competition in the 2018 National Panorama season is in the history books, with the focus now turning to the conventional steel orchestra categories, small, medium and large respectively.

Mercer: If some BIG NAME ARRANGERS cannot win SINGLE PAN -- how on earth are they going to win LARGE BAND?
An upgrade is needed here, play new music, the arrangement to these old songs can easily be interchanged with past years. Whats the difference?
