I stopped frequenting this board a year ago in protest of the unfettered, ugly pettiness and hatred spewed out to my band Trinidad All Stars because of our hard work and focus over the years, but I must break my boycott to congratulate Desperadoes on a well deserved remarkable victory this year. I was in front the grandstand for both Despers and All Stars and I wholeheartedly agree that they won. There was applause in hell yard when the results were announced and we visited Despers yard to share congratulations with the champions after. No hate here, only love - as it should be. Enjoy the reign, but keep your eyes open...we will be back, and soon. Well done Desperadoes, panorama champions 2016. As for our detractors in here, in the words of our 2016 song Leave we Alone, 'come together and support each other, stop the fighting and also the backbiting'. Signing out again

Congratulations to Carlton Alexander, and Despers. They and Phase 11,were the only bands to play any progressive music.I love All Stars, but I honestly thought they were going to come 10th. Why don't all these other bands come out of the seventies and eighties, and play something more progressive and internationaly understandable. Better luck next year.Give us something new please,if it wasn't for Zanda and Boogsie, this year, there would not be any pan worth listening to.Follow their lead,Boogsie has been trying to teach yous for 40years. Stop hating and listen carefully.BLESSINGS.
While I share in the accolades being presented for Desperadoes in this forum, it would be appropriate if some time was spared to congratulate the other bands for their performances, in particular second place winners, Supernovas, for an excellent performance, having moved from small band category to big band category and managing to capture the second place, just one point behind winners, Desperadoes.

More importantly, how is smooth doing? Heard he was a bit under the weather. There is mutual respect between those 2 steelbands..will try to fend-off challengers next year!
The year I met you in All Stars yard we also lost (to the Phase ,if memory serves) I was very impressed with the way players and supporters took the loss, so your statement is no surprise.
So we congratulate the winners and move on.
And , to paraphrase the Terminator,
WE'LL BE BACK!

As a grown man from the hills of Laventille, I can say openly say that Desperadoes doesn't harbour any ill will for Trinidad All Stars. What is easily observed, is the sometimes fanatical supporters of All Stars, who sometimes behave as thou Massy All Stars is the only band in EPOS. Yes they have done well over the years, particularly during the period 20olman00-2015. But even some of the announcers, who features in the "live" audio and video broadcast of panorama, becomes over exuberant as it relates to All Stars Performances. All stars has a rich tra dition and is well discipline, with widespread international support. But what is placed on the back burner is that Desperadoes also has a rich tradition, highlighted by the quality of there music from 1966-2016.Sometimes, as a "student of music appreciation" panorama results appears to be the judging of a "Show on Broadway" as against musical creativity, excellent orchestration and improvisation. This unholy trend has affected the outpourings of many arrangers, like Ray Holman,Robert Greenidge and the legendary King of improvisation Boogsie Sharpe. With the accent on pleasing the judges and winning, panorama looses its major portrayal of MUSICAL EXCELLENCE. Peace and Blessings Z.

Very well put. I like that. Wish steel band leaders here in Grenada will always do the same
So well said! The love of the music and each other should be the only way.
