Pan pioneer and original Invaders member Cecil "Coy" Forde has passed away.

The following notification was sent by the British Association of Steelbands (BAS):

"It is with regret the British Association of Steelbands (BAS) reports the sad passing of Cecil ‘Coy’ Forde on Christmas Day.

 Coy was an original member of Invaders Steel Orchestra (Trinidad) and also worked as a Chef at the Rio Restaurant. His service will  be held at Kensal Green Crematorium, Harrow Road, London NW10 on Friday 6 January 2012 at 3.00pm."

Coy was also a member of The Original Trinidad Steel Band  which was a group of veteran panmen from Trinidad who formed an eight man group that successfully  toured and performed in Europe in the late sixties and seventies.

The Original Trinidad Steel Band also performed with the Boney M group, among others.


The band was led by Winston Jones, and included Cecil "Coy" Forde, one of the founding members of Invaders Steel orchestra.

  • didn't know the guy, but a panman is a panman...one of many who toiled long and hard so that this generation can enjoy the fruit of their labour....much regard..RIP.

  • My condolences go out to Cecil "coy" Forde's Family and Friends at this time and his contribution to pan is recorded so his legacy will live on.............R.I.P. my brother.

    • Condolences accepted miss flemming,his spirit lives with his son,daughter,grands,great grands his very few friends and those he touched,well wishers etc.really loved his pan.  I took his pan,and he left! but i will give the spirit of your brother in music! Tellison a forde,
