Anyone viewed the Panorama 2012 DVD?, I would like to hear comments...Am I the only one hearing a different sound...I know based on audio systems (home theater, computer audio cards) sound reproduction can be heard differently, stereo vs surround sound for example. I thought Advance Dynamics were going to step up on the audio quality.

Advance Dynamics can you gave some details about the audio and video of panoramafinals2012DVD
I understand the audio was done by the University of Trinidad & Tobago (UTT) and the video was done by Advance Dynamics.
We can't get a DVD of small and single pan in time for Ash Wednesday if at all and we're complaining about this not being in 5:1 surround sound? Man I'm just happy if all the band names are displayed correctly and with the right band...
Noah, I understand where you're coming from and it's a shame, but we have to demand excellence and a fair and reasonable price for the DVD, it's the only way things will improve.
I would like to know how many Panorama DVDs Pantrinbago sold in 2011 and what the projected sales are for the 2012 version.
I just ordered my Panorama DVD from panapparels.com and I can't help but comment that I find the pricing of the DVD and cd to be somewhat high at $50.00 for the DVD and $40.00 for the cd.
I understand the special nature of these products, and there may be costs associated that make them more expensive than the typical concert DVDs and cds, but we should be trying to expand the market for pan and also to capture a piece of the entertainment dollar.
This sort of pricing doesn't help, and is shortsighted at best.
Obviously, some of us pan lovers could afford this, but I think that many would find the cost of these items to be prohibitively high, especially in these tough economic times.
I would guess that many young people that actually participate in the Panorama in Trinidad would be reluctant to spend $50.00 US which is about $300.00 TT to acquire the DVD.
This is the sort of pricing that encourages piracy.
They're pirating their own product because 50 princo DVD-r blanks goes for between $12.00 and $15.00 US and is used for mass production that's why bootleg copy DVDs are so cheap if you're buying the original from Trinidad pantrinbago it's TT $300.00 and $350.00 you're actually paying more for the case. work the math out in US Dollars see how much it's really worth that goes for the soca monarch, groovy soca monarch and the parade of bands.
Wayne,
it's a shame because it's priced about $20.00US more than I would expect to pay for a three disc blue-ray DVD set WITH 5.1 surround sound and they wonder why folks pirate their DVD's.
I for one refuse to buy it out of principle, it's not that I'm cheap, it's just that the price is excessive in my opinion and we need to let AD know about it! What are they doing, charging us extra because we demanded a quality product, are they charging us extra because we pointed out the flaws in their product? Surely they will sell more if they price it more reasonably.
What do you mean by a different sound, ODW? Please elaborate.
Glen,
The one I got was in stereo, after AD last year promised and produced 2011 Panorama Finals DVD in 5.1 sound following complaints from members on this forum, I felt they would continue with the new audio format, mind you I give them credit for raising the bar in the quality video (HD) of their product. I still consider the DVD a collectors item.
