As I listen to and read the "explanations" for the Miami Heat fans' "pots and pans tradition", I become more and more amused. So amused, that I had to shed some Ghostly "inconvenient truths" to my Latino peeps. This is what I came up with...how do you WST members feel?

My reply:

The Matter Matics of Percussion.

Cuban Percussion - African Percussion = Zero.
Zero + African Percussion = Cuban Percussion.
(In case you didn't do the math. lol.)

  • Hey Ghost?

Tell them that we started doing the "pots and pans" thing more than half a century ago, until we got tired of making noise and decided to tune the pans and make musical instruments with them.

Like calypsonian Johnny King once said,

    "Panman overs dat"

And BTW as for sporting events, we changed the quiet  English game of cricket forever, when we started doing the "pots and pans" thing during cricket matches in England back nineteen sixties and seventies..

  • That equation is a gazillion dollar problem for the entire world!!!! Africa is constantly elided from all the inventions and contributions it has provided.
When we say something about it, the WORLD has a problem. If you haven't listened to Hugh Masakela's Colonial Man ('76) he documents the origins of samba in Angola - forgotten facts...
