Since the introduction of the players stipend, Have any of the Foreign and Expat players receive any payment or they do it for love of Pan and Culture ?

Have any of the Foreign and Expat Pan Players ever receive any players stipend for playing in Panorama since the  Players remittance was instated, After all i am sure their names were submitted to Pantrinbago for Payment and the majority of them leave soon after Carnival  before any Prize Monies is distributed. So  what happens to that money, Is it keep by Pantrinbago or the bands for when the players return the next year or no payment is ever made to these players because they just come for Panorama to play for free with no intension of receiving any stipends?.

Here are the rules...

4.3. (i) Registration Fee – The registration fee shall be the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for all local players.

(ii) All Non-nationals of Trinidad and Tobago before performing at the National Panorama with any steelband/steel orchestra, shall pay a due of one hundred United States dollars ($100.00 US) to the association, for temporary membership for one (1) year, in accordance with Pan Trinbago’s Constitution Bye-Laws.

4.4 Entitlement of Registration:

(a) Only players who are registered with Pan Trinbago shall be authorised to perform in the competition.

(b) Players shall be authorized to perform with one (1) steelband in each division of the competition.

(c) A lumpsum payment will be made payable to each band as players remittance to be paid to performers who have been certified as having performed at the Preliminary round.

Band Leaders are required to submit the list where players signed for receiving their remittance as evidence of receipt.

Any band leader that fails to pay their players as per list submitted, will be held accountable for the money.

The amount of players counted at the preliminary round and signed off by the respective band official cannot be changed after submission.

Those are just rules, non-binding in any business in T&T. Just fuh show.

I say its time to AMEND the rules of the Constitution to reflect the REALITY of the times. INCREASE the  registration fees.

These Rules and Regulations are written in accordance with Article 7, Part B, clauses ‘12’ and ‘14’ of the Constitution of Pan Trinbago Inc.

(b) Players shall be authorized to perform with one (1) steelband in each division of the competition.

Like merrytonestothebone was LYING or what -- and ah hope he doh MISREAD my TIMBRE this time!!!

odw: I read those stipulations a few times before and it came to my mind when Earl put up the post -- but ONLY YOU would go dig it up and bring the CLARITY to THE FORUM ... yuh know I too busy criticizing everybody!!!

I think we should ban the foreign pan players for TT panorama competition. Not fair. Very easy for US citizen ( pan player), to visit TT but not easy for TT pan player to visit the USA to play pan. Bottom line, the USA pan players don't contribute spit.

That is not a good enuff reason to ban fgn players, and FYI the fgn players do contribute. They are as good or even better than some locals.

I know of one band that said straight out they don't pay foreign players. Money is made from panorama semis and then from the finals, this is the money players are entitled to payment from.

But do they get it?

Some bands started offering packages to foreigners: room and board, transport to and from panyard and opportunity to play in panorama. for a price.

Cecil, why do bands need fgn based players, to even offer incentives? Are we short on pan players in T&T? Or do they bring a better attitude? Just asking.

PHASE 11 LET DAVID PLAY!!! WHO WILL STAND UP FOR DAVID 12YRS OLD! David has been playing with Phase 11 since he was 9 yrs old. He played when they won Panorama 2013 with MORE LOVE. This Panorama Season David practiced for the entire sea.son, not missing a session, he missed 4 days of school when sessions went on until 2-3 in the mornings. He played in the prelims and semis, . LAST NIGHT HE WAS GIVEN THE NOD FOR FINALS, GIVEN THE UNIFORM JERSEY, TOLD WHAT TO BUY, WHITE PANTS AND SHOES. THIS MID-MORNING, TODAY, FINALS DAY, after his grandfather bought everything they informed David he was replaced. Where is the justice????? The person replacing David is a "friend" of someone??? This person practiced 3 nights????? This person was abroad all the time and hardly knows the tune????? David is registered to play. David has own pan, plays well...all his hard work, night rest gone down the drain. David's playing not in question here!!!! A visit the pan-yard and you can fibd him showing adults some parts of the tune...Now his dreams shattered. Tomorrow David will be 13 yrs old. We wonder why pan not going anywhere? This is the reason!!!130 odd members in Phase 11, ..Plenty HAPPINESS!!!but one sad little boy....the future of pan!!!!!

This was unfortunate for young David, Phase ll wanted to win this Panorama badly so they just choose the best players.
