Global - Sixteen steel orchestras have chosen “Vibes” as their tune of choice in the Conventional category in the 2012 Panorama competition. “Vibes” is composed by Mark Loquan, Ken “Professor” Philmore and Destra Garcia with vocals by Destra.

 

Bands performing this piece are Laventille Serenaders, Simple Song, Fascinators Pan Symphony, Tipica, Belmont Fifth Dimension, Valley Harps, bp Renegades, Starlift, CLICO Sforzata, Potential Symphony, Sangre Grande Cordettes, Old Tech Steel Orchestra, NLCB Fonclaire, Longdenville Claytones, NLCB Buccooneers and T&TEC New East Side Dimension.

 

Other selections finding favor with more than one band include “Archbishop of Pan” composed by Len “Boogsie” Sharpe and Gregory Ballantyne (3), “Boogsie Sharpe” by Winston Scarborough (4), “Prophet of Pan” by Tellison “Tello” Forde (4), “Play Yuhself” by Clive Telemaque (5) and “Gie Dem Tempo” by Edwin Pouchet and Alvin Daniell (4).
 

The National Panorama Preliminaries – Small and Medium Conventional Steel Orchestras category will commence with:

  • a)  South/Central Bands on Thursday 26th January at Skinner Park, San Fernando, south Trinidad at 7:00 pm.;
  • b)  East Bands on Friday 27th January at the Larry Gomes Stadium Car Park, Malabar, Arima, at 7:00 p.m.;
  • c)  Tobago on Saturday 28th January at the band’s respective pan yards from 7:00 p.m.
  • d)  North Bands on Sunday 29th January at The Paddock, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, from 3:00 p.m.

 

Admission to each of the above—with the exception of Tobago—is TT $60.00.

 

Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama 2012 is in tribute to cultural icons Dr. Pat Bishop TC, HBM, and percussionist Ralph MacDonald - Grammy Award-winning songwriter; both passed in 2011.
