Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. -  Presentations were made recently of the CD “The Heart and Soul of Kaiso Parang to both His Excellency Trinidad & Tobago President Anthony Carmona, and Health Minister, Mr. Terrence Deyalsingh, by members of the Friends of the Blood Bank Association (FBBA) together with the General Secretary of The National Trade Union Centre of Trinidad & Tobago (NATUC) Mr. Michael Annisette. “The Heart and Soul of Kaiso Parang” is a joint venture between the FBBA and NATUC. This two-fold exercise is firstly, to raise much-needed funds to run the Association; and secondly to show how Trinidad & Tobago’s much-loved calypso music of yesteryear can be redone in an unexplored but popular format - Kaiso Parang.

With musical arrangements by Leston Paul, “The Heart and Soul of Kaiso Parang” features the voices of Baron, Crazy, Kenny J, Alicia Jaggasar and Eddie Charles, with calypsos such as Workey Workey, Woman is Boss, Bed Bug, Salt Fish, Boo Boo Man, Sugar Bum Bum, Lorraine, and Brown Skin Gal, just to name a few, in a Kaiso Parang beat.

Mr. Annisette, on behalf of NATUC, sees this venture as a service to country and culture from workers of the country that will benefit generations to come.

The “The Heart and Soul of Kaiso Parang’ is available nationwide at Wonderful World, Stephensons Fashions, Stefano’s, the Blood Bank and leading record stores.
