The steelpan instrument is ,in my opinion, the world's greatest instrument. When one considers the origin and evolution of the pan, and views it from a modern technological perspective, the resulting imagery is nothing but phenomenal. The musician has the ability to product a wide variety of musical sounds from mere rhythms to leads; from calypsos to classics. Currently, the fusion of conventional jazz with steelpan instruments has gone global, and philharmonic orchestras are including the pan as an important part of their arrangements.
