  • Trinidad's carnival should always remain a freewheeling , free spirited event. The latn in origin is 'carne vale': farewell to the flesh. How folks do that should be up to them. Some go to judging areas where they can sit and enjoy it that way while others prefer to hit the road and do their thing unfettered. Tourists have those options also.Remember the King of the road once sang "de road make to walk" and "we walk 100 miles" 'too late to change that now with that pan and brass keepin us going.Say hi to Peter for me. Keep on rockin girlfriend . Your posts are like jewels falling from a clear blue sky
  • Need to wake and smell the coffe ed

  • Simply awesome! So, it's either T&T wants costumed street parties with the 'world' joining-in, meeting and greeting (on the parade routes amongst the revelers) and having fun or, they want the world to sit and enjoy the costumes displayed on the respective parade routes. It speaks a culture of discipline and what the particular country wants to offer and benefit....SLBlood, T&T

  • They have left us in the dust. Layne, it's all because, like most leaders in Trinidad, they are vision-less. How can we say that we have the best carnival in the world ?. May 40 or 50 years ago but not now.

  • This is why you would  rarely  see TNT carnival featured on any major TV nwtwork in North America, and most likely in Europe (don't know for sure). Why? the production focus I believed  is certainly not on an international level as of yet.. Observing this years' and other years TnT productions of the mass and panorama programs/event/competitions, with the exception of the Soca Groovy Monach product looked visually and substantially sub-standard as compared to Rio and other nations festival productions. I am bewildered by the fact that after the communities have put so much time/effort in the preparation for the season why doesn't the Tnt tv networks and festival promoters and  programming developers are not placing emphasis on the production of the events. From a marketing point of view it truly doesn't makes much sense. TNT must invest more in this area to attract more of an international  television veiwing audience.
