On looking at this pic again I'm sure that this was taken on High Street in San Fernando for I can see Y De Lima and Cable and Wireless . This has to be in the 1950's for at that time High Street was 2 Way traffic and you can see the car facing down High Street . This Band has just left the Library Corner and has reached where there is presently the entrance to Carlton Center and probably on their way to the Wharf which was a Competition Point. Thanks.
When it comes to Fancy Sailor and Fireman Mas San Fernando was Boss for I remember back in the 50's and 60's Band Leader Belgrove portrayals of " Cakes and Pastries" and you felt that you could have eaten the SweetBread there and then and the Fancy Sailor even had his Swatter to drive away the flies. Then there was "Birds and Insects" and the Grasshopper moving it's "hands and Head" exactly like if it was alive and then "Fruits and Flowers" with the slice of water melon just waiting to be eaten and the Bees enjoying the nectar of the Hibiscus. These were soo real that Kudos go out to those who made them and those who portrayed them. Mama dat is Mas. Thanks.
