  • I missed Mr. Edison "Eddie" Quarless' Day, because my brother, Clement Franklin and I were tending to my 90-year old mother out of state.

This is my education about Eddie.  In 1993, Desperadoes were way behind after the Panorama Semi-Finals, so arranger, Robert Greenidge deleted and added parts, and after hearing their Final Night performance I said, I think we have the third spot.

Now, I had never heard the Name Eddie Quarless and when All Stars were about 8 minutes into their "Dus in yuh face" and both North & Grand Stands were on their feet, I said, we are out of the top-three, and I was correct.  After All Stars' performance on that final night, both North & Grand Stands applauded for over 30 seconds.  This was the first time to date that a band did not win, but received the longest standing ovation of the night.

In the history of Panorama, no winning Steel Orchestra have never received the adulation, time wise, that was bestowed upon Mr. Edison "Eddie" Qualess and the All Stars Steel Orchestra on that Saturday night of February 20th, 1993.
