Note the parade area....only grass and dirt......no actual stage then. When you came off "stage" you were well covered in dust or mud if rain had fallen...lol. Note also the "wooden" structure of the North Stand.
Oh My, I can see the images and feel the joy and the music bands. When Carnival was about enjoyment of being alive; creativity unleashed in its fullness; being able to become a character from elsewhere and enjoy being that; to leave behind the life you were living and be in another space for two days with the permission of everyone else. To dance the dance of life and love. Where did that go and will it return. Trinidad life was hard and sweet, sweet, sweet.
