The Castilianne is a Trinidadian interpretation of the Venezuelan waltz that was popular in Trinidad, particularly in the nineteen fifties and sixtiesIn 1956, Emory Cook produced an album of Castilianne music called "The Castilianne Maracas Waltz".Included were two selections by the Girl Pat Steel Orchestra - "Castilianne" and "Juliana".In recognition of this pioneering steelband, and especially in honor of band member Ellie Robertson, here are these two selections.Eleanor Marion Robertson passed away in New York on June 5th, 2012.May she Rest In Peace

It is always sad when a Pioneer is recalled and especially from this very close Pan fraternity . BUT we can rejoice in their efforts for as a result of them Pan has progressed and established itself as a Worldwide Instrument that can stand on its' own and perform with distinction at every performance . I wish to thank The Girl Pat Steel Orch for all that they have done in their promotion of our Pan and its' music . Brilliant I must say . Thanks .

Jean Ewing,before joining Girls Pat as a second Pan Player in 1956 was the Captain of Dem Girls Steel Band
in Lochart Lane Belmont, in 1954 and still remembers, the honor when asked to join Girls Pat and the comraddie
among the girls. Today, eons ago she still speaks of Elly
Her brother Hugh,T/dad Guradian Reporter and captain of DeM Boys, Trinidad first decent and white collered
Steelband in 1953 also broke all traditions of the Bad John Steelbands in winning best and biggest band with "Viva
Zapata"downtown
