  • Thanks Spiceman! I was nice to see how far our National Instrument has reached.

Pan was always there it just took some time for us to see it.

  • Emile,,,,,Well put this was beautiful.
  • Again... "But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house." Mark 6:4 ~ Holy Scriptures
  • On our return to America and Canada after the success in Expo67',Esso Tripoli had played in many Universities, Colleges, Naval and Airforce Bass. We also played in Casinoes in Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada. Hugh Borde son born in Nevada called Reno.   Esso Tripoli steel band were nominated in the Fourteenth Annual Grammy Awards in the category of:

BEST ETHNIC OR TRADITIONAL RECORDING. The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.

We given the Keys to the AVENUE OF THE AMERICAS. This is just a short History of Esso Tripoli Steel band achievements.

  • Thank you so much for posting that very inspirational and moving documentary about 'Sir' Hugh Borde - I am a great fan of the Trinidad Tripoli Steelband and will send this post around to all my fellow pan players here down under - and guess what, our second-hand pan bus we got a year ago for our road trips through country Australia looks just like theirs ...  :-)

thanks again and kind regards to everyone. Rita from 'Pans on Fire'

  • Cherish our Pan history!

  • I went to EXPO 67 in Montreal, and heard the band although I hadn't known of them at the time.  Took many years for them to come to Windsor so I could hear them again.  LOL

  • Emile,  no matter how many times I see this, I get emotional (choked up). Your dad is a National Hero, and together we will ensure that history properly records his contributions for posterity. You should be extremely proud of your dad and his continued dedication to our steelband culture. I am really looking forward to his presence at the town hall meeting. Leaving him out of the 50th Anniversary celebrations, was a huge slight, and one that must never happen again to ANY of our "pan pioneers". Thanks again for posting this video; hopefully, it will receive more appreciation, than those you already posted. Shem Em Hotep (May you go in peace), my "big brother". Ghost.

  • The works of this group has been largely unrecognized especially in T&T, most recently at the 50 yrs celebration, no invitation or contribution to the event, our historians should be more concerned with the facts and the impact of our national heroes both at home and abroad. The steelband is our greatest contribution globally.
