This film has been produced by Iskra (iskra@iskra.fr) and can be found in 35 mm version and DVD. It has won the silver award FIPA of the best musical television films (Cannes, 1988).

Mr Verba,

Thanks for the info, as you can see this was from a copy of a copy and the video quality is very poor. The closing credits are not very clear reading. Thanks again for the film and it's invaluable contribution to the art-form.

Can you provide us with information about how or where the original film can be purchased?

This film sequence comes from "Pan in A minor", a Daniel Verba's film, which has been shot in 1987. When you post a movie, please cite your sources...Daniel Verba, french moviemaker

As a Compliment to Master Jit Samaroo. Master Clive Bradley said. If I ever had a Steelband and Needed an Arranger. I would Use Jit Samaroo. This was said in My Presence.

Jit and Renegades: the standard by which everyone is judged.

Comment by Ian Franklin on September 6, 2014 at 9:01pm

Mr. Jit Samaroo is certainly the most successful Panorama arranger.  His amazing win ratio may never be topped. He led Renegades to 15 top-3's from 1980 through 1997, and his 9 wins in those 18 attempts is 50%. He also broke a record in 1984 with his 17.5 points victory, which lasted up to the results of the 2005 panorama. Mr. Samaroo is also the first to lead a Steel Orchestra to 3 back to back wins, before one led to the first hat-trick in conventional panorama.  He is also the only Panorama arranger that qualified for 29 consecutive finals. Dr. Jit Samaroo is truly a genius.

Some of the managers in this business should have patience with their respective young arrangers.  You see WE want to Win Now. But, please be reminded that It took Mr. Samaroo from 1972 through 1978 before he qualified Renegades for the Panorama Finals. At the next Panorama finals, he became "the new kid on the block" (lol)

A tribute to cultural icon and musical genius.
Dr. Jit Sukha Samaroo Steelband Composer and Arranger

“It is my belief that Jit Samaroo is the most ‘clinically accurate’ steelband arranger of all. He is capable of realizing the true potential in a calypso and structuring it in a very exciting and dynamic way. His unique style is derived from the way he optimizes the middle and background instruments of the steel orchestra. Execution of Jit’s arrangements literally leaves musicians drenched in perspiration.”
