  • Does any one have the 1986 soloist ?
  • This is soooo amazing, it just goes to show what pan music can do.....Bigger things.
  • Dear Glenroy Joseph,
Can you give me a call at (954) 792-1879.
    A fellow pan lover,

  • Thanks for sharing this video. Over the years the fantastic work done by Paul Campbell with Cordettes and now Tamana has almost gone unnoticed. What is not well known is that he was responsible for the much of the work with Desperadoes test piece in the 1986 festival. Desperadoes commenced their festival preparation with Paul Campbell before Pat Bishop took over. As early 1972 Paul Campbell was arranging for two bands that participated in that year's steelband festival- Cordettes and Melodians. He was probably the first arranger to be do that.
  • Thanks again Master R Joseph!! Very good. You have shown us that you are very concern in sharing your musical gems with us.
  • Franklin, that subject remains the topic of steelband lore. They say only All Stars could win 2 out of 3 categories and still be denied the title..I was in the complex that night and everyone was dumbfounded. Added to that, it is alleged that All Stars only got the correct version of the score for the test piece days before the final when everyone else had it for weeks. Go figure.....
  • The points made by desperadoes in the test piece was that much more,so when the three categories were added they were still ahead.
  • Just a bit of trivia; why did Desperadoes win Pan Is Beautiful in 1986, when All Stars won the Best Tune Category and the Best Calypso Category, Desperadoes won the Best Test Piece Category.
