Ron Berridge gives a latin jazz / bossa nova arrangement to Rogers and Hammerstein's "The Lonely Goatherd" from "The Sound of Music".This stellar arrangement shows why many of us considered the Ron Berridge band to be the best.By the time Ron started his band, the young musicians from the Clarence Curvan's band (Cape, Berridge and others) had become seasoned, veteran professionals, and it definitely showed in the music.

  • Yeah Glenroy

Those are all great players and then we come to the era of the young cats like Bert Bailey and Ken Charles.

Nearlin Taitt it's been a long time since I've heard that name....when I was growing up Ansell Wyatt was one of my Heroes...then he gave up guitar and started playing sax I never understood why he did that also Joey Lewis ...I liked him more on keyboards than guitar....but then again theres nothing bad you could say about Joey. Hey I love Trinidad Music history why because we taught them all how to play back in the days when Calypso ruled the airwaves its only when we went into Soca that everybody started cetching up with us.

    Thanks Bro!

    Jeff Medina

  • Actually, Jeff, there were a number of fine guitarists performing in  Trinidad in those days.

Apart from Les Sargent and Leroy Coleman, there were people like  Joe "Chet" Samson, Joey Lewis,Scipio Sargent, Darlington  Brown, not to mention Nearlin "Lynn" Taitt, and my personal favorite Freddie Harris.

And then there were the combo guitarists like Ansel Wyatt.

The sixties was a time when skilled musicians were highly appreciated and respected , particularly guitarists.

  • Thanks Glenroy.

I vaguely remember the name Earl Lezama. He sure showed some musical maturity in that tasty guitar solo and in those days the only guys who could play like that was Mr. Fitzroy Coleman or Les Sargent.

    Keep us informed Glenroy!

  • @Jeff Medina, I believe the guitarist at the time was a guy we knew from south named Earl Lezama.Earl was kind of quirky, but he was an excellent guitarist.

(Ron can correct me if I'm wrong)

  • Thanks Glenroy

Flawless production Horns are perfectly in tune articulation is spot on 10 out of 10..So who did that guitar solo?

sounded like Les Sargent but it also could have been Freddy Harris or the young Scipio Sargent keep the history flowing Glenroy.Jeff Medina
