  • Listen everybody....stop with negatives.....whenever we can get pan on the streets of Port of Spain - it's GREAT!!!  In my opinion - There has been more pan on the road this year than ever before...yes - it's politics....yes we bong to get tief and corruption in it...but we have to win back the hearts of the people of T&T to get steelband to where it was in the '50's and '60's.i.e. KING.  So I say great that we have another parade of steelbands on the road next Sunday.  Hopefully it will be televised by TV4 and all we steelband peongs will be able to see it from afar but I will never negate any opportunity to get steelband on the streets of P.O.S. where they belong.  They have shoved us out of Carnival - but if we get the people behind us once more - it won't be long before we're back in Carnival for good.

    • Well said Mr. Burgess, if I could get a cheap flight, I would go for the weekend just for this; bump all who read that political crap into anything positive about pan.

  • What does a Float Parade have to do with PAN, our national instrument?

How much of that cheque will go to Pan and how much will go to the designers of the floats?

"Eat ah food" politics on the part of the SteelFesTT committee and electioneering on the part of the PM!

  • Too bad this wasn't repeated in the ongoing NYC elections.  Too long an explanation to go into right now.  But to put it simply.

NY City Council Members receive less than 5,000 votes.  Multiplied each district by registered Pan Players + Friends & Family = tens of thousands of votes in each district.

If Candidates cannot commit to funding Pan, then run Pan's own candidates.  Results, elected officials who would ensure funding and permanent residences for all Pan Yards.  Building a cultural museum for Pan and Mas could also have been accomplished.

Now repeat with Mayor, Comptroller, Public Advocate, DA's etc.

Don't just criticize success.  Replicate it for yourselves.  Nuff said.

  • Election fever is in the air with Jack Warner raising dust,so watch out for money from them. You know that pan is not really in their hearts. Just a show. Politricks.
