Who coined the word "Panorama"?

Who coined the word "Panorama"? CDC Chairman, Ronald "Ronnie" Williams. This was in 1963, and was the country's first post-Independence Carnival. He suggested the name to (then) steelband association (NATTS) leader, George "Sonny" Goddard, and at that meeting, George also got the CDC to up the prize monies from $350 to $1000.

  • Nice to know!

  • This is very good to know. It adds to my knowledge of the history of pan. Good information

  •  well done to the chinese community- all ah we is  one family despite what the failed politicians  try to  divide and rule us

    • Evan, your comment is so true about the" Chinaman " but the comment on the politicians is a real" Googly ". Well bowled and well told.

    • I like that, Evan. Growing up, we had two "Chinee daddies"; Ronald Williams and Mr. Leong (who used to work with my mom at ADB). Both were close friends of the family, and both were very kind and giving to our parents. We loved Mr. Leong; he was such a funny man, and he really was like family. That's what is etched in our memories as kids; our parent had very close friends of various ethnic backgrounds, and we all grew up the same way. However, all my friends know that I am proud of my African ancestry, and understand our dilemma. If they truly love me, they would be sympathetic not apathetic to the plights of those who look like me, just as they should expect me to be the same toward the plights of those who look like them. Then, we can claim to be one happy human family. Hotep. (See MAAFA 21 on YouTube.)

  • Important information to be placed in the history books of pan.
