Deaf Listener experiences Steel Pan

Born deaf, she had a chance to "Listen" to steel pan for the first time by feeling the vibrations while I played my new tune, "Sea Breeze." This made me forget about time, money, audiences, etc. and just focus on the power of music to connect people that can't even communicate! Most people don't give musicians the time of day - but she gave me the time of my life! This memory will last a lifetime.

  • brother Glenroy you  are so right ,  that is how i got interested  into pan i felt the vibrations on the pan i am living proof of it  God has smiled on me and gave me the talent to earn how to play it was not easy but i was etermined to learn

  • greetings from Bermuda  i know what u r talking about i myself a hearing impared pan player and i was also born totally deaf  and got  my 1st feel of pan in Trinidad 1989 then i went back home to Bermuda then joined a steelband and been playing ever since going on 25 years now thanks to the "Grand Master Lord Kitchener " encouraged me  to get into playing and now on the 6th of next month i will be inducted into the" Bermuda music hall of fame"  due to my persiverence and also lot of other entertainers that i have worked wih over the years sincerely     Brant "panman" Wilson
