Nice to see another SilverTones man in the forum. i fell in love with Silvertones after their performance in the music festival in'67,
When my Marabella band Scarlet Symphony broke up, I joined Silver tones and beat tenor bass with them from '67 into '68 until I left for St Croix. All those names bring back fond memories.
Too bad Silvertones didn't survive. At least the band fron the next block is still around.
Cavaliers is one of the great bands of the south! Those were the days I was with Antillean All Stars, lead by Owen "tackie" Donavan. Arranger at the time was Jameel Whiby and some of the crew at the time was Hollis Reece, Earl Turpin, Eugene "Docky" Claxton, Lassie, Ali and Ashley Cooper, Hughie Balcom, Fatty Balcom, Jokolo, Rudy Cambridge, Michael Dyer, Winston Dial...in those days Bobby was always at my door trying to get me to play with Cavaliers, but that never happened. I ended up with Skiffle Bunch.
I was in Silver Tones at that time , some of the Tones crew, Ted Belgrove ,Johnny brooks , Cocona , carlie ,Zephrin, Jonesy , Felix, Coombs, peasy, (Balbosa) Boy Grant, Skully, Errol Moore(tuner) Hoppy , Mano , i lived one street away from cavaliers , but chose to be with Tones ,Peter Base encouraged me to link up with Cavaliers in 69 , i did , it was a wise move , Nuff respect still to Silver Tones , Zephrin the captain one of the best leaders in pan, Miss wooding , larry D , Vick lange , Kicker George, Crichilow are some of the people who arranged for Tones back then , .Thanks Thanks,Thanks ,
