  • Thanks Guys for your comments. I did not want to name any Steel Orchestra or Arranger for this Pan Trivia. lol There is a book entitled "PANORAMA FINALS FROM 1963 TO PRESENT." The cost is $10.00 usd. Does anyone know who is the compiler? His number is (954) 496-5005 though. (lol)

  • Okay Claude, I hear dat! T'anks anyway...

  • -Big Sid: The PANORAMA HISTORY RESULTS is INCOMPLETE. One man kept a diary -- which made him a genius in retrospect -- but he did not quite capture all of the information as an ENGINEER might want to see it today. So it will take a lot of research to make the document complete -- if it is even available!!!

Of course, PAN TRINBAGO will tell the PNM to give them  TWO MILLION DOLLARS to research and complete this document and the money will just disappear like all the other MILLIONS did!!!

But this is a project that SHOULD BE COMPLETED!!!

That is ALL I have to say on THIS TOPIC!!!

  • Oops!

CORRECTION! I flipped those two: Should read:

    Smooth's Hammer: 97.7%

    Boogsie's Feelin nice: 97.4%

  • Thanks Claude.

As an engineer I couldn't help myself and whipped out my onscreen calculator to find:

    1) Smooth's Hammer (1986)     : 487/500 ~ 97.4%, and

    2) Boogsie's Feelin Nice (1987): 293/300 ~ 97.7%.

So Smooth's "Hammer" (1986) tops the list by a narrow margin. I definitely wouldn't argue with that.

1987 was a very special year for Panorama. There was a tie for 2nd place between Jit's and Desper's "Pan in A Minor", with Smooth's "Curry Tabanca" bringing up 4th place! I doubt there was ever a better Panorama.

So here is another trivia question: What Panorama year rates highest for the points aggregate over the top 4 bands?

  • 487 Boogsie 1987 -- This Feeling Nice!!!

    462 Exodus 1992 -- Savannah Party!!!

    278 All Stars 2011 -- It's Showtime!!!

  • Ian:

Thanks for these bits of trivia.

But tell us more .... who got the 487 and the 462 and the 278? I already know who got the 293 (All Stars with De Hammer).

The list of those who won playing from position #8, also the year, would be interesting too, if it's not too long or too much trouble.

Btw, I think in Chinese numerology #8 would be considered a "power" number.
